I Let My Non Imm B Expire!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am a UK citizen, 51 years old.

I had a non imm B visa and was due to do my 4th & final visa run. Problem was I had 2 dates, one on the visa (utilize by 26 Oct 2007) and one on the arrival/departure card from my last visa run dated 29th Oct 2007. Like a fool I used the latter only to discover the visa was had by then expired and they would only give me 30 days.

Now I was all set to change this visa to a retirement visa. What are my choices. Do I need to get a one year visa or can I go to Penang and get a 3 month and then apply for retirement.

Thanks in advance, Pete......

If you have 21 days remaining on your 30 day entry and meet the retirement requirements you can obtain a visa from Immigration at a cost of 2,000 baht and then extend for retirement. If not you will have to exit/return and if you do that you might as well stop at a Consulate and obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa. But you could use either a visa exempt stamp or tourist visa and have changed by Immigration.

Thanks Lop.

OK, I haven't actually put the 800,000 bht in the bank yet. Will be doing that this week sometime. So I suppose a trip to Penang for a 3 month non imm O will be the way to go for me? By the time that comes to an end the money will have been in the bank a little over 3 months.

Or am I missing a better option?

The single entry sounds like your best bet.
