Everyone has been such a great help to me in planning my relocation to Thailand. AM I crazy?

I am bringing my wife (Filipina) and child (13 y/o). I am still analyzing the offer and quality of life issues. Thanks for your help so far.

OK. My potential employer is flying me out for a few weeks to see me in person. Thus far the interviews have been over the Internet or via phone.

Now, fast forward.

I am in Bangkok. I am too lazy to help my wife clean the 3 br apartment off of the skytrain. My daughter school costs 12,500 per year. I am too tired to help her with her homework. My wife is a not a very good cook. Her looks and patience with me more than makes up for her lack of domestic skills.

I want to enjoy Bangkok and the rest of Thailand with my wife.

Now. How do I find a nanny who can manage the home 24/7?

Would you have a nanny pick a child up at school?

Would you leave a nanny in charge of the home until 2 AM?

Would you leave a child with a nanny over a weekend?

What top 2 or 3 potential issues should we be aware of?

How much would a nanny cost?

How about English speaking?

Former model, anyone, anyone? :o

Does anyone have a reference for me to contact?

I think I know the perfect candidate for you: Their name is Poo-Chy Scampi and they often post here looking for work.

PCS speaks English very well, but I'm not sure if they are a former model. Does tend to brag about good looks though :D

Where's your CV TGS?? :o:D:D

Is your wife a mother? Do either of you want to provide any care and company for the child?

I appreciate everyones comments.

The situation would be to have a nanny to allow my wife to attend university online. Nanny and child in one room, wife in another room. The other scenario is for my wife and I to be able to go out at night once per month.

What alternative approaches do you have?

Now, why would a teenager need a nanny? :o

Good question.

In California. We dare not leave a 13 year old completely by themsleves. Is it any different in Thailand? The nany would serve as the adult/authority in the house when my wife and I are away at the same time. Otherwise, said nanny would make it possible for my wife to maintain her studies. We also planned to have another child.

Instead of extended familiy, there would be the nanny.
