Ceiling Insulation Installed

Recommended Posts

I've just had ceiling insulation installed in the family home as well as my sister in-law's house

out in the back blocks about 80 Km west of Nakhon Sawan.

The company first sent an engineer to measure the houses and check the ceiling structure.

The manager Stephen sent me a quote this week, I TT'd the money the following day.

The job was finished today.

We had Cool or Cosy fibre installed in one house and fibrewool bats installed in the other house.

Total time from first email enquiry to completion - 2 weeks!

I can thoroughly recommend this company.

They have supplied the insulation materials for many large hotels and office buildings in BKK.

Funny thing was, Stephen was unaware of the ThaiVisa.com forum, so I gave him the web

address and no doubt he will become an avid member.

A Farang living in Thailand without ThaiVisa.com? - unthinkable! :o

I know this exercise was not cheap by Thai standards, however I was in a hurry and didn't shop around.

The excellent service and fast delivery are worth it though, particularly since we are not in BKK.

House B 60x60 Envirobatt as has a T-bar ceiling = 78m2

House A Supacell 100mm. = 105 m2

= 183 m2 @ 305 Bht/ m2 = 55,815 Bht.

+ 7% VAT = 3,907 Bht.

Total amount = 59,722 Bht.

This was the total cost to supply & install.

No doubt you could save by buying Envirobats or their equivalent and installing them yourself or with cheap labor.

However the Supacell is blown in by machine and then sprayed with a glue to stop any wind currents from

disturbing it, so difficult for DIY.

The Supacell was my first choice. There are no gaps where heat can penetrate.

seems in comparison quite expensive to me. my roof insulation is done with fiberglass mats, 15cm (6") thick, both sides aluminium foil and i paid (~15 months ago) approximately 65,000 Baht for material and installation. total insulated ceiling area 460m² = ~140 Baht/m².

the mats however have a disadvantage as they can't be installed directly on the gypsum ceilings because of the suspension rods. the advantage of blown-in insulation is that it rests directly on the ceilings.

I just paid 170m for 4" Acoustic fiberwool insulation 40kg/m3 Top spec! Also bought 3" Fiberwool with foil layer at 185m. At 305m I would have used PU spray foam.

But I'm happy if you are. Sometime better to pay more and get it done. But I like to shop around.
