When I find the noise/signal ratio too silly, I just don't read for a week or three and find it bothers me less when I do want to come back.

"a week or three"... are there that many newspapers available at your place that you can use the daily cartoons as a substitute?

:o

Good point, Nam. Our statements, our avatars, our names and signatures, are the modern cartoons of the virtual world. ThaiVisa is one huge cartoon. :o Look at us - Peter Pan talking to a Klingon!

Or alright then...I don't read Thai Visa for a week or three :-P

The nearest English newspapers round here are 30km away anyway ;-)

People advocating that others who complain about Thailand should go home (uproot their lives and belongings again, probably at great expense and no small amount of bother) can surely see the sense (and ease) of taking a little of their own advice and moving on to the next post.

Most of the negative comments made here are kept active with dozens of posts from people who believe they are the sole arbiters of what can and cannot be said on this forum about life in Thailand.

They are not - That is the job of the forum rules and the moderators.

If you don't like a post - pass right on.

It will soon disappear off the bottom of the page.

One could not have said it better than this.

This forum is about discussing viewpoints, often with very different standpoints. Critique to Thailand should be constructive, but the 'go home'-argument kills any debate. Debate does not actually have to change something, it can be a purely intellectual exercise.

But then, maybe intellect is in very short supply if the only tool in the box is some 'go home'-outburst...

might try to stab me to death with a machete.

In the sense of developing a constructive discussion, it might have to be pointed out to you that 'stabbing' with a machete is a very ineffective use of this weapon.

To witness how it really should used, during gang violence here on Phuket one youth became his right hand and half an ear chopped off with a 'sword' (at least according to the Phuket Gazette).

Moving on from there...
