My HTC TYTN smartphone was pinched out of my bag whilst I was helping a friend who fell off the balcony at the Half Moon Party (almost worth losing the phone just to see that).

It's absolutely useless to anybody as it is password locked, maybe you could re-install Windows Mobile on it if you had the right kit but I doubt it.

It is an O2 badged HTC TYTN with a model name of O2 Treon, probably the only one on the island.

If anyone is offered one of these phones to buy on KPG I would love to know about it.

Like I said, a long shot but who knows miracles sometimes happen.

Have you tried the phone shops in Thong Sala? Someone might have sold it to one of them.

That's on the agenda, unfortunately visa run time for me so will have to wait until I get back.

If I go into town tomorrow I'll try to have a peek--we usually go to the curry guy for lunch on the TMB turnoff-- I'll look in the phone shop there if I get the chance.

Whats it look like?

It looks like this: http://www.europe.htc.com/products/htctytn.html

Mine is slightly different as it's the O2 version, it's dark grey instead of silver and has an almost worn out O2 logo top left corner. Also there is a very small dent halfway down the left hand side of the screen, very small though but definately a distinguishing mark!

Thanks SBK!

Checked the one by the curry guy-- he doesn't have it and nobody has tried to sell him one in the past few days.

There is still the larger Friendly shop --If I go by it, I'll stop in, otherwise give it a try when you come back. It can't sell quickly.

.... Of course, there are also a few phone shops in Ban Tai and Hadrin :o Seems you have your work cut out for you when you get back :D

Thanks for looking, I'll check a few tomorrow myself during the day.

There has been an interesting but predictable turn of events regarding this phone.

A couple of my friends noticed today that they had missed calls from my old number, a series of text messages between me and a young lady who lives and works in Ban Tai has resulted in me retrieving my phone, at a cost of 3k baht of course, but I would have paid that much for just the SIM card in truth, the loss of the number was a greater blow than the loss of the phone.

The interesting part is that the owner of the bar just happens to be a very good friend of a girl a friend of mine was knocking about with the night I lost it. Funny that isn't it?

Note to self: Abstaining from the temptation of bar girls is not enough, must also abstain from being around friends who entertain them.

Or, perhaps, abstain from taking one's expensive phone to parties and buy a cheapie just for those times :o

I wish I could but the phone forms part of the recording equipment for the website I run (not allowed to say which here). I also have to carry an expensive camera, I'm usually super careful but I guess having to peel my friend off the floor after his swan dive caused a momentary loss of reasoning!

Another note to self: Being super careful is not enough, must be extra super careful from now on.
