Xp Menu Dissapeared(!)

Featured Replies

hi guys hope you can help me with it .

My pc had viruses so I downloaded the "antivir" program and it really cleaned the pc but when I restart my pc I get only the background of the windows.but without the shortcuts I made,or any kind of menu.. just the desktop background.

I have a lot of data on my pc and I really afraid to loose all of it.. how can I get into my memory at least to recover the data I have..or to solve it better to see all the menu..

thanks.

Most of these programs have lists of things to clean, you must un-tick what you do not want removed..

Feel sure only the shortcuts were deleted, so you will have to go into the drives find what your looking for and make new shortcuts.

maybe there is an easier way ??

Myself have an extra external USB harddrive to back up everything + do not do a scan with that HDD switched on.

If you do an alt-ctrl-del to invoke the windows task manager and from the task manager's menu bar at the top click

File -> New Task (run..)

Then in the run dialogue in the text box type

explorer

and click the run dialogues ok button

Does that do anything for you?

problem solved. went to safe mode.

copied the important files.

runed a scan (second time).

restart -now it works good.

thanks anyway..that will teach me to pack-up before doing something like this.
