My friend used to be a car dealer and he reckons that with the right equipment, you can set the security to auto lock when driving away and have the key fob say only open the driver's door with one pres and all doors with 2 presses. He says that he had this don one Seat and Volkswagens.

Unfortunately, the Isuzu (or at kleast mine) does not auto lock when driving away and I cannot believe that it is not an available feature.

Anyone know the technicals ?

First thing I do when I get a car with auto-lock is disable it, I want people to be able to get me out if I've had a shunt.

Obviously the car-jacking safety element comes into play in certain locations, but in Thailand??

I would have thought that as part of the airbag deployment or impact sensors, that the lock would disengage. My problem is how to get it to engage in the first place ?

I found the auto lock doors VERY irritating. I suppose if I only had one vehicle I would have eventually gotten used to it but I wasn't happy until I had it disabled.

Mine is the 4 door 4wd turbo diesel and it does everything you ask.

WITH an extra alarm sytem that takes care of the auto-lock.

That is possibly why. We did get an alarm fitted as part of the deal when we bought it.

Torrenova, I did ask the car but she told me to p1ss off until I learn to wash her more often.
