I Am Confused About Visa Please Help!

Featured Replies

I am from the United States and I am a little confused by the visa rules of thailand.

How many times can I get a 60day tourist visa? Is it only once and then an extension of 30 day, which then puts me at 90days for a 6 month period. Or can I keep leaving thailand and getting 60day visas as many times as I want.

I know you can only stay for 90 days within a 6 month period with just a stamp but what about with a visa.

Could I keep leaving every two months and reapplying each time and live in thailand say for one year straight?

If someone could answer this for me I would be very grateful.

Thanks

There is no official limit to the number of tourist visas you can obtain and use, so getting a new one every 90 days (60 + 30 extension) should not be an issue :o

HOWEVER

A number of the more 'local' consulates are starting to apply limits to the number of visas they will issue to a person, so people are having to become more adventurous in their search for new visas.

Don't forget the visa exempt stamp thats good for 30 days upon arrival. Those are the ones that have the 90 days in six months not tourist visa's.

I can confirm this as well. I'm an American and after receiving three straight tourist visas I was denied a new one in Singapore just a few weeks ago. I did receive one this week when I returned to Singapore but only after issuing a special plea to the embassy staff. I was told not to return to Singapore again for another tourist visa.

A British friend of mine has told me that he has received as many as four tourist visas (at one time) at the Thai embassy in London. Never heard of this happening anywhere else.

If anyone knows of a consulate or embassy that will grant multiple tourist visas at once please post the information here.

You're pretty much OK in your home country, or at least outside the general area of SE Asia.

Certainly Hull UK will issue multi-entry non-o class visas for 'visiting friends and family' to pretty well anyone who shows up with a valid passport and the visa fee :o

Starchild we're all confused, you're not alone. It's much better obtaining a

multiple entry tourist visa from your home country before you come. The

local scene at embassies/consulates is getting increasingly erratic. And we

never use the word "live", the correct terminology is "long holiday". :o
