Newbie here with a problem regulars have probably seen and answered many times, but any help very welcome !

A Brit living in France, I spent 70 days in Thailand from 25th Sept to Dec 3rd 2007, on visa runs, just travelling around, not working.

I'm booked to fly out to Bangkok tomorrow Dec 21st (one way only) because I thought I could sort out my visa in Paris (either non-immigrant or tourist or whatever's easiest ... but .... the consul's off on a long weekend and there's no way I can get a visa before my flight goes (can't change the flight).

As I've used up 70 of my 90 day allowance and done more than 3 visa runs in last visit, am I going to be able to get into Thailand, with a stamp on arrival? Do I have to have a return flight booked?

If I can get in, where's the best place for me to fly to (from Bangkok) in preferably a neighbouring country to try to obtain a longer stay visa (I was hoping to stay for five or six months), either non-immigrant (I've a letter from my company saying I want to register a company in Thailand), or a tourist visa (not sure if I qualify for non-immigrant without having already set up the business in Thailand)??

Any advice gratefully received ... and I'm fast running out of time! Many thanks....

With a one way ticket and no visa there is a pretty good chance that the airline will not let you on the plane.

Sorry.

I can sort that, I can book a flight from Bangkok to wherever (eg Phnom Penh) before leaving Paris .... ?

Phew, thanks. Won't leave it to the last minute next time...

Anyone any experience of applying for Thai visas in Phnom Penh? I've got four days there ...

And just to add, your going to have much more of a problem getting multiple entry tourist visa's or non imms around asia than you would back in Europe / your home country.. You could be making a rod for your own back by not sorting this.

Thanks guys, but I had to book something quick before travelling ... now in bkk.

I'd read about problems with multi-entry visa once in Asia, but nothing I can do about it now.

That said I've a letter from a registered UK company confirming I'm looking to set up a Thai branch - wondered if I should go for the non-immigrant visa instead, based on a business visit. Anyone I'll look into it further now I'm here.

The most "friendly" consulate at present seems to be Vientiane for visas. They recently granted me a double entry tv with no questions/fuss. Even though my passport is chockablock with one years worth of tvs.

Best of luck :o
