Anyone here who can set up a telephony server with VoIP termination at a reasonable cost? I already have a server. PM if interested .. and capable. It is not a "cheap calls to .." application.

We finally got Asterisk working in our office. Not a great business decision economically, but it is nice to know what the opportunities are for customizing. We have mostly analog trunks and extensions, but we are doing more SIP as we grow. Worth the investment strategically though...

Did you look at any of the alternatives, like Callweaver (true Open Source) and a couple of others that slip mu mind at the moment? Um .. one is YATE. What I'm looking for is considerably different than Asterisk.

It takes guys who really know telephony, moreso than Linux gurus & C coders.

kilkster,

What kind of "server" are you trying to setup? The request is a bit vague to offer any advice/recomendations.

I know people that are specialists in voice mail, CTI, AAA, SoftSwitches, calling card solutions etc but would need a bit more detail to point you in the right direction. All of the guys I know work/worked for Nortel or Cisco in carrier switching. The guys I know all work for the standard contract rate of £50-75 an hour plus expenses.

I was actually surprised how easy it was to navigate the Asterisk dialplan from the standpoint of features available and the concept of how to implement them. I understand Callweaver is derived from Asterisk, but I am not sure how much dialplan compatibility there is.

Which ever route you go, I found it easier to find a Linux guy to install the software with the demo setup, and then hire someone else to remotely configure it.

How many trunks and extensions are you looking at, and are there any special features you need? I found a few consultants in the US with reasonable rates over at voip-info, but you need to be able to define your needs clearly. Many of the various project developers also offer installation assistance.

Out of curiosity, what about Asterisk can't meet your needs? Yate looks like it offers some solid database/RADIUS integration, but doesn't look like it is as actively maintained. (They claim a cleaner codebase, which after playing with Asterisk is a nice to have.)

I want to set up a click-to-call and other services.
