I am trying to use this website to watch UK TV http://www.liveuktv.com/ . but having little success due to problems with video buffering.I am in Nong Khai and have a TT&T Maxnet Premier adsl 1024/512 connection.

Live UK TV have done a ping trace and it would seem that the problem lies with TT&T surprise surprise! I quote from them:

Having run a ping trace on your IP address, the problems would seem to be with "tttmaxnet.com".

There is drops in the connections between the servers and your IP address and it is only after it gets to that tttmaxnet.com.

Anybody any ideas please.

Get a better internet connection.. Easier said than done.. You have access to the direct CAT provided ADSL lines ??

Can use multiple ADSL lines and a load balancing router in some cases..

In my experience streaming video is pretty useless in Thailand :o

A better bet that I use if you can wait before watching (fine for series or soaps) is to use one of the UK specific P2P sites. Since we're not permitted to discuss file-sharing on the open forum, PM me for information :D

Explain what part ??

CAT is the backbone provider that all other telcos use.. Hence thier ADSL is the fastest.

A load balancing router is a router that sends packets over multiple lines.. Doesnt work for all applications and uses but basically uses 2 lines at once.

If you are looking for UK tv, you should have a look at http://uk.slingmedia.com/ The slingbox is a small device you hook up at your internet connection and your TV device (cable, DVR etc) in the UK .Some UK models (the Classic and Pro) also have a build in Freeview tuner, so you just have to connect an antenna. Once the setup is done, you can watch TV over here as if you were at home (quality depends on the upload speed at home and the download speed over here). No monthly costs, you can find a slingbox for around 100 £.

I use one for approx 6 months with Maxnet, and after solving some problems in the beginning, I'm very happy with it.

Hi many thanks for the info.

Had a long web chat with a very helpfull techi at slingbox. It sounds just the ticket but alas cannot use it because I have nobody back in the Uk to host it.

Many thanks for everbodys input.

After fighting with TT@T Maxnets technical department over the phone trying to get them to improve the connection with little success. I even got liveuktv.com to do a trace who proved it was TT&T that was dropping the connection. They told me how to do this and see for myself which I did and they were correct. I have to come to the conclusion it is a complete no go and sacked the idea. This is a pity because it would have only cost £25 per month. I have now another method to watch UKTV thanks to info provided by members on this forum.

If anybody else is having problems and is interested in tracing their connection this is how to do it.

Go to start then run on desktop then type cmd in box then press enter on key board. Type tracert (space) www.liveuktv.com (or what ever you want) then press enter. It will then trace your connection over so many hops. Would be interested to know how many people get timed out hop stages as I did when still with their ISP in Thailand.

This http://www.slingpub.tv/index.html company can do the hosting for you, but they seem a bit overpriced to me for what they offer. It seems that you can ask for a demo, but if you try, be sure that what they send you is a real slingstream, not something prerecorded (so they should provide you the slingbox finder ID and it should open in the slingplayer)
