Tot Adsl Keeps Dropping Signal

Featured Replies

I live in Pattaya and have TOT ADSL 2048/512 and sometimes it will run for hours / days but at other times it will drop if I am inactive for a mere 5 or 10 minutes.

The router is set to time out after 99,999 minutes so that cannot be it. The telephone is not being used at the same time.

Any ideas why and how I can rectify it, if at all ?

Thanks

Thanks, I read that a few times and I get some of it but I'm not sure why the frequenct of it dropping is so varied ? Also, why does activity (such as writing and submitting posts) seem to extend the "life" of the connection.

I accept that the line and hardware used may be rubbish but then shouldn't the frequency of dropping be equally poor ?

If you're line drops after a certain time of inactivity, it's probably due to your router setting. Check if you can find something like 'nailed-up connection' instead of a timeout value.

If the drops are indeed completely random, check the signal-noise-ratio of your line. If it is not enough then the slightest interference along the phone line will cause a drop in your connection.

Without any further details it will be very hard to pinpoint the problem you're experiencing.
