Non-immigrant O Visa – Validity Confusion

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I thought I knew all about this myself, but have realized I may have got it all wrong. I'm hoping someone can set me straight on something.

I am a 35 year old British citizen, and have a multiple entry Non-Immigrant O visa from Hull in the UK.

It was issued on 21st February 2008 and has a "Must be utilized before" date of 21 February 2008.

I first entered Thailand on it on 10th March 2007, and have then crossed the border several times - approximately every 3 months as required.

My last 'admitted until' stamp in my departure card says 'admitted until 01st March 2008'.

My questions are:

1. Assuming I cross the border at Mae Sot or Mae Sai on 1st March, what will I be given?

2.Will I be switched straight onto the 'Visa on arrival' system as I have crossed after my "Must be utilized before" date, or

3.Will I be given 8 days more taking me up to exactly 12 months after my first entry date on 10th March 2007?

4.Or, if I cross the border a day before my "Must be utilized before" date of 21 February 2008 will I get an extra 90 day stamp from then, taking me up to about 18th May before I then can switch onto Visa on arrivals for up to 90 days?

Any advice and information anyone can offer on this would be greatly appreciated…

Many thanks

I would use it on or before 21st Feb, that way you will get 90 days.

If you do a border hop 1st March your visa will be expired and you will only get 30 days.

1. Nothing more than a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

2. Yes.

3. No.

4. Yes.
