Is A Baby Drinking Beer, Bad?

Featured Replies

My son now 3.5 years old really enjoys beer. He has since 2 years or more been sneeking a quick guzzel in when he could get away with it. We thought at first it was just a phase or him showing off or minicking us, but he really has a taste for it and is trying to drink more.

We try to keep a cap on how much he drinks but he can be real persistant at times and is now guzzeling 1/3 of a bottle in a swift and sneaky manner.

We lived in a pub and apart from him trying to share our drinks, we've also caught him in the morning drinking from the draught tap.

He also seems to really like wine and whiskey to, with spirits we are very gaurded but he'll try and delve his hand in a whiskey and quickely suck his fingers or even lick the drip in the bottom of a shot measure. he's not so keen on gin.

I just wanted to know, if a little bit here and there can do any real harm. Its beer that I'm most worried about because you can see by his face how much he is enjoying wolfing it down.

Obviously it is bad to let him get drunk all the time but what happens when when kids do, and is there any such thing as a safe limit.

should I really crack down and demonize it , banning him from touching it. and be hippocrits in his eyes, It would take alot of effort.

Or should we carry on letting him get away with having a little, as long as it's in moderation?

This is a flamers dream... Either you are victim of drinking too much when a child yourself and thus can not be blamed for your actions... or you posting this to get a rise out of the flamers... I hope you are going for the response because if you are serious.. Child welfare should be alerted to your situation. Whats your address?

Not a good idea. In fact dangerous.

Children's liver isn't yet designed to cope with alcohol at that age.

Where's the "Don't feed the trolls" smiley?

Grand/Grandad - gave sips when I was a young lad. (might as well be nothing, but got the taste of what it was) Actually sitting down and giving your young one a beer is a diff story and completely wrong.

I just hope he doesnt turn out as intellectually challenged as his father :D

Either a troll or an idiot. Take your pick.

More likely a trolling Idiot :o

Get him into AA, that could be a start? Other than that just keep the gin close by.

For sure a alcoholic in the making.

do you think it is wise to promote alcohol at such an early stage....how bout a cigarette or a nice cigar with that drink Mr.

I think the OP has answered his own question.

Bad bad idea.

You should be thinking of your childs health and future here.

At the very least you should be mixing kahlua or tia maria's and milk for him so he gets his daily calcium requirements.

When the buzz from the "moderate amounts" of beer or hard liquor doesn't "do it" for him, :D , you can start him on ya ba--but only in moderation--so that he doesn't ever become addicted to it.... :o
