Hi,

A couple of years ago I was driving back into Bangkok when I spotted a large car "tent" with loads of classic cars in various states of restoration. If my memory serves me correctly it was on the northern outskirts of BKK.

There were many older American cars (1950's Buick etc), and the person at the tent said they hired these cars out to film companies etc, but they were also for sale.

Also were older Benz, and some older British cars like Rovers, Jaguars and even a Hillman Imp. There must have been at least 50 cars.

I took a business card but have long since misplaced it. I'm sure this place must be "on the map" of the Thailand classic car scene, and I would very much appreciate if anyone could point me in the direction, as I have a friend extremely interested in looking at some classic cars.

Cheers

Yes I pass it every time I drive down to Nontaburi, from Bang Yai area [the road is now dual carrageway so you may pass it before you can get off]

If your driving down that road Bang Yai to Nontaburi it is on the left.

Hi,

I have learned that the owner is Khun Opas, and I think it is Rattanathibet Rd, Nonthaburi. However I have been told that he moved all his cars last year. Can you remember the last time you passed and saw the cars ?

Thanks.

Update my last post

If you have Google Earth then Thailand > type in 13'52'22.45N and 100'27'41.47E > go on the enlarge and keep enlarging until you see the tent and all the cars...

Driving from Bang Yai Road go towards Nontaburi after the large intersection [NOT the 'Ban Bau Thong' intersection use the fly over] it is half way between this intersection and the River on the left side.

Hope this helps :o

Hi,

I've managed to get in touch with Khun Opas, and he is not at the Nonthaburi site anymore. All his cars are in storage, and viewing is by appointment.

Thanks

I’m not sure if these cars are for sale. There’s a collection of older cars Citroens, Mercs etc in some car shelters around the side of a pond as you head out to the new airport from Sukhumvit.

The place is a Restaurant/watersports park called “Chon’s Pond” or something very similar located on the left side near some expensive looking housing estates. Access is off a side road that runs beside the freeway.

The cars are located on the left and rear sides of the big dam at the rear of the restaurant. It may be worth a look.
