1. Wife and I finished our 12 mo. plus 3=15 months Non immigrant O visas jan 1. Since then we've made two trips to Mae Sae. I was under the impression that now we must seek a consulate in malaysia or vientianne for a 2 month visa. and then can go back to the quicky border run for 2X 30 days. ie. I thought the visa run looked like Ma Sae quicky across theborder 2x (30 days each trip) then Cambodia, or laos malaysia 1X (60 days each trip). is that right?

2. Penang works out much better for us to log in beach time before heading back north. I read that now a "home ticket" is required along with "hotel reservation". Can "home ticket" just be a rt ticket say 55 days later leaving the country? Also can "hotel reservation" be for just a week somewhere in Phuket? or does it have to mean the whole period of time in thailand?

thx for help in understanding

1. You can use up to 90 days on visa exempt entry so one more border crossing/return could be made. The rule is not more than 90 days in a six month period.

2. A home ticket in 55 days should be fine for a tourist visa issue. Believe a weeks hotel stay would be acceptable but only Consulate can make that determination.

But if they do that don't they have to leave Thailand for 90 days? I'm going to get a new tourist visa next week and I told a friend that if for some reason I don't get one, I'll just do 3 visa exepmt entries until I plan to leave for a month elsewhere in June. He told me if I use 3 visa exempts in a row that I will not be allowed in Thailand until the 180 days has passed even if I go to a consulate someplace and get a new tourist visa. Is this true?

I have just (Feb. 19th) received a tourist visa from the consulate in Penang. I showed an e-ticket home (date May 15th) and a note from my hotel in Thailand that said that I had paid until Mars 1st and planed to stay there until April 30th. The consulate had some complains because the thicket wasn’t showing the price of the ticket.

I had two used Thai tourist visas in my passport, one overstay stamp (one day) and lots of 30-day stamps and two visa extension stamps. I have stayed in Thailand 31 days on the visa exempt rule and 90 days on a tourist visa + extension since Oct 9th 2007.
