Double Entry Tv Question

Featured Replies

Hello, all! I hope somebody could help me out.

In mid-January I went to Vientiane to get a double entry tourist visa. I got it just fine, no sweat. When I crossed the border in Nong Khai, however, the immigration guy stamped it with USED. I didn't think much of it. I just assumed that it meant that one entry has been used.

Just last week, my boyfriend went to Vientiane to get his double entry. When he crossed Nong Khai, however, his visa wasn't stamped with USED, rather it was just marked with a "1" plus a stamp of the date.

My question is is this going to be a problem for me when I get my second entry? Is there a way I can get this changed? Please help! Thaks heaps! :o

Go early and plead. But I think you will be in trouble. ALWAYS check the stamps. Good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me in November.

I went to Chiang Mai immigration and queried it a couple of weeks later. The guy there, who was very friendly, said there wouldn't be a problem with my second entry and then took a pen and crossed out the word 'used' which concerned me re what the reaction would be when I went to the border. I went to Mae Sai last week to activate my second entry and didn't have any problems at all. The woman at the border saw the crossed out 'used', had a quick check of my stamps and then gave me my second 60 days without saying a word.

Make sure you write the visa number on the arrival card.

Do you have some visa-exempt days left? In my case I wasn't worried if Mae Sai wouldn't give me my 60 days as I knew I'd be ok for a visa exempt if not seeing as I have my full 90 days available and they don't check for onward tickets at Mae Sai. As it turns out I didn't have a problem though.

This is a good warning to everyone on double-entry tourist visas and one more thing to check when being stamped in.

1. Check the date of the stamp is 60 days (if that is your entitlement).

2. Check the visa has been dated and not stamped "USED".

3. Be sure to write the tourist visa number on arrival card.

When it should stamped by " USED " ? On the second entry or only when I go out of the country after used the both two entries ?

Does on the second entry they write "2" ?

I believe they stamp Used when entering Thailand the second time. I had one of those once and I took the paranoid step on the first entry of talking to the immigration officer before handing him my passport and making it clear to him that it was a double entry visa. I could tell he understood. Now, I am not sure what I would have done if he had given me one of those blank expressons.
