Illegal sex drug after-effects are on the rise in men

SINGAPORE: -- The number of men suffering serious reactions to an illegal sex drug in Singapore are on the rise, data from the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said on Saturday.

Six more males have developed dangerously low blood-sugar levels in the past two weeks after taking the sexual enhancement drug called Power 1 Walnut, believed to have been made in China, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 16 and suspected cases to 40.

The 56 men are between 20 and 90, some of whom are foreign workers, said the HSA, the national drug watchdog. One of the victims is in a coma and another suffered a stroke three weeks ago.

Symptoms include tremor, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness and confusion.

This is the most serious case of adverse reaction to an illegal sex drug in the city-state, HSA Chief Executive Officer John Lim told The Straits Times.

Tests revealed the presence of a prescription drug for diabetes in amounts that are five times higher than the dosage given to diabetics as well very low levels of sildenafil, which is sold as Viagra, the report said.

The HSA has warned against buying health products from dubious sources such as street peddlers, makeshift stalls and off the internet.

More than 75,000 illegal sex drugs, including 2,000 Power 1 Walnut pills, were seized in raids conducted last month.

Geeeee, I feel pity for the young lads who already needs a medication, and full of admiration for the old chap who still enjoys !!

I forget exactly how it works (I'm a 52-year old non-druggie), but I believe the younger fellows mainly take them to counteract the effect of other drugs they ingest which inhibit ability to "perform" sexually. If I'm not mistaken, Ecstacy ("E") in particular, inhibits achieving erection, so partiers who are on "E" take Viagra, Cialis, etc to have sex while high.

Power 1 Walnut contains 2 prescription medications:

1. Glibenclamide A.K.A. Glyburide an anti-diabetic medication that stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin.

2. Sidenafil A.K.A Viagra a prescription erectile dysfunction medication.

I assume that this product is being marketed as a "natural" alternative to Viagra since it's name is Power 1 Walnut. It is in fact a black market drug that contains an anti-diabetic combined with the popular ED medication Viagra.

Please take this as a warning, I know how some TV members can't resist to joke when it comes to news involving anything sexual. This product is extremely dangerous and if you know someone who has or is thinking about using it, use the information here to warn them about it.
