OJ Perhaps it has something to do with your "long story". I would check to make sure that True is still providing service to you. Won't be the first time a thai company screwed a customer, especially after a dispute. I have a Mac which I occasionally use and have no problem using the appropriate login username and password. A friend of mine borrows my line from time to time and uses his Mac without any problem. If everything else fails, call True and request a serviceman to come down. It'll cost you 350 baht.

Try following the guide ,use your browser to set up the modem. If you checked when you bought it that its Mac compatible the the settings should work
jstumbo Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Shouldnt be anything to making it mac compatible. It is just a router/switch. It does not care what is connected to it. My guess is that you either have an ip address configured on your mac that does not match the subnet of the router, or you have your mac set for DHCP and the router does not have DHCP active.
JannikOJ Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks everyone. Sorry that im so ignorant about these things. Here is where i am so far. I found something thai about mac support and here is roughly what it says. The manual says the modem wants to connect via the TCP/IP menu under "Network" in preferences. But True blocks that because it does not give them the username/password. True wants to connect using the PPPoE thing but the modem does not work that way. Anyway, thats what im guessing is the conflict. Anybody got a good idea? Thanks again :-)
Prasert Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 As jstumbo said, MAC compatibility has nothing to do with it. The internet runs on TCP/IP which is an independant protocol. This protocol is supported by MacOS, Windows, unix, OS/400, NetWare, IOS, JunOS, VAX/VMS and loads of other operating systems most people never even heard of. So, connect your router with a UTP cable to your Mac, turn on your router and turn on the Mac. According to the manual, the router is default at address 192.168.16.1 Configure the network interface on your MAC to use DHCP. Open a webbrowser on your Mac and surf to that address. It'll ask you to login, the default userid and password are both 'admin' Once this works, your Mac is 100% compatible. Plug the phone line into your router (and use the splitter if you also have a telephone). Setup the router with the ADSL settings provided by your ISP; VPI/VCI Encapsulation userid password For True it's VPI/VCI: 0/100 and encapsulation PPPoE LLC ...and if all this is still too brief, read the whole manual in english here
JannikOJ Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 YES!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! It works. Allthough very slow international speed. But that has nothing to do with the modem right?
JannikOJ Posted March 23, 2008 Author Posted March 23, 2008 Just gonna bring this thread up again real quick. Ever since i changed the modem the speed seems to have gotten worse. It could be a coincidence and its just a matter of TIT. But its been 3 days now with about 300kbps download and 200kbps upload (international) on a 2,5 mb line. Is there something i have done wrong or something i can do to improve speed? Thanks again for all your help! J
Prasert Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 How do you determine that the speed is so slow? Average download speed with bittorrents? In that case read this topic. Very likely your router is unable to handle many connections.
