Porn is a common abbreviation for a Thai girl.

In Pattaya we have Porn Mobile - selling mobile phone services, Porn Hotel, Porn Laundry. Many that stand out in the street signs.

The Thai name is as it sounds in English. I was rolling around when my GF told me the title and when I explained the pronunciation to her she walked round the house going "I <deleted>, I <deleted>"

Aparently it's the lead male's name in the movie!

I lived with a lady named Pornthip in 1960-61.

I think one of the Miss Thailand winners was named Pornthip too.

Once tricked a swedish/finnish friend of mine (Jari) to pronounce his name with a strong G instead of the J. In my simple mind quite funny when ladies would ask him: What you name? and he would simply reply: Ga-Li! (yes, that's a bad word for prostitute in thai). Had to break up a fight or two over that...funny though..no?
