Municipal Office

Hi All,

What I am looking for is the name of the government office / department / organization that will have the addresses of all the schools in the province ( Changwat? ) and if any foreign teachers are needed for the schools. The main areas I am looking for are Khon Kaen, Udon thani and Nong Bua Lam Phu. I don't know if it comes under the heading of the Provincial Administration Organization, Bureau of Education or any other name. The reason I ask is to save time running around searching for schools in an area that I don't know or live in at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

I doubt it. Never heard of such, but then I know nothing about those provinces. It is more difficult to get a job here as a teacher, than as a minister of education in a Baptist church in the Bible belt. :o Each school is usually a private fiefdom and you have to talk to the individual fief.

Actually, such a list probably does exist, but not in English. Take a look at this list:

http://www.kkzone1.go.th/schoollink.html

It's a list of all the schools in Khon Kaen Education Zone one! Unfortunately, all it has is the school names, not phone numbers or address. In addition, most of the website links are bad (probably either obsolete or mistyped).

You can find this link and many others at this site:

http://www.moe.go.th/new_site/home

If you scroll down about 1/2 way down the page, you will see a little window with this phrase in it:

เขตพึ้ที่การศึกษา which means something like 'list of schools in different provinces'. This window will give you links to school districts in every province in Thailand. Whether those links will work or not is another question! :o

Someone who reads Thai better than I could probably find a more relevant link with a bit of searching.

However, PB is right. Each school is run as a private fiefdom by the director. The only way to get a job is to hit the pavement and go to each school in turn.

Good Luck!

If I'm not mistaken, KK has 7 educational zones, and each supposedly have their own websites.

Try talking to someone at the MoE in each region. The more than likely do not keep a list of schools looking for teachers, but someone their might know of a vacancy.

This has worked for me in the past, but not in KK Province.

There are probably 9-10 schools in KK City with foreign teachers. I know of at least 4 schools looking. Look at ajarn dot com, jobs.

As mentioned earlier, going to the schools in person is often the best way to find a job.

What level are you looking to teach? If primary, PM me and I'll send you some info.
