I would appreciate any opinions on the above question. I am moving to Thailand in July and wanted to know what others think. If I buy in the Middle East I save on currency exchange loss and get the same (keyboard language?) product, but the service issue needs checking. Think it should be okay to service in Thailand though as surely that is something all Apple stores assist each other with as it were.

Feedback appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Macbook comes with international warranty. So you will be able to get support from Thai if you purchase from Mid East

Personally I would email Apple and ask them the situation with Thailand. There are a few resellers but AFAIK no Authorized Service Centres that can carry out Apple repairs. If anything did need doing it would probably have to be shipped out of the country.I think its done through a "drop centre" in Thailand at the moment.Correct me if Im wrong.

Not sure if this helps...

Macintosh Center Co., Ltd. was established in Thailand by Mr Wittaya Wongwanich, Managing Director, in 1998. The company started its business as the first and only Apple Gold Service Provider for Apple product in Thailand. In 1999, the company introduced a Thai language plug-in solution for Apple products which help to double Apple Thailand revenue and in late 1999 the company was appointed as a Marketing & PR agent for Apple Thailand to conduct events such as Press and Consumer launch, Seminars and Conferences , Products roadshows, Consumer Rebate, etc.

Korat 88 are you moving to Korat? If so there is now an authorized Apple Store in the Mall. They sell all the Apple products. I think they send their repairs to Bangkok. If you buy an Apple computer here it will have a dual keyboard (English & Thai). Not sure if this makes a difference to you.

Rdrokit - I will actually be working in Bangkok, so although I may be in Korat, were my wife is from, at weekends (some), I will be focusing on BKK as the main place to deal with any day-to-day issues. I know the store you speak of that is in the Mall, but IF I were to buy the computer in Thailand would buy it in BKK. If on the other hand I buy the computer here, I will need to be sure that I don't have any problems with that purchase decision. I tend to believe what others have said about the service being worldwide, international warranty, but also think that checking with Apple is a good idea. I will go to the Apple store here and ask, as well as send an e-mail to Apple in the US to make sure. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
