I'm looking to put a high fence (about 2m) around 4 rai of land and would like to use the mesh style agricultural fencing that's show in the pics below.

There's a small farm near us that be raising deer and they've used this type of fencing, but none of the locals know where to find it (the owner of the farm isn't around to ask).

Does anyone have info on where I could find this?

Global Hardware

Thanks, but I've never heard of them. Where are they located? Any idea of the price per meter?

Global is a chain of DIY/hardware stores with branches in most of the larger cities (e.g. we have a branch here in Khon Kaen).

You could also try looking through some of the livestock magazines in a bookshop and if you can find one about deer farming then I think there is a fair chance that you may find an advertisement from the company that makes or imports this product.

Good luck.

Hello Smithson, try AUS FENCE, 02 271 0967. They have had an ad in House Agriculture Magazine if you want to see a picture.

Hello ozzydom, the pictures show twisted wire, reinforcement wesh for cement work is welded, except when it's hand tied.(like in rebar) Also not "rectangle's" of different sizes, stock fence has smaller openings at the bottom for small animals.

I found an ad in an ag magazine that shows large square mesh type fencing wire at price 80 baht a square meter, phone 086-348-8399. 086-163-9555, 086-855-6469. The pictures in the ad show the fencing being used for horses, sheep, dogs, pigs, goats, etc. The name Aus fence is mentioned in English so may be the same company rice555 mentions (but phone number is different). Sorry I can't read Thai. Good luck.

Ozzydom and Rice, thanks a lot this is really helpful. regarding the exact type, I'm not too concerned. My aim is to keep my dogs in and other dogs (and buffaloes) out. I'm also concerned about cost.

I just came back home from Chiang Rai. I was visiting a friend who just completed a wall around his property. The first meter or so is block and he wanted chain link for the top portion. His brother in law found the chain link fence and my friend is happy with it. I didn't ask him the cost but told him I now need another 160 meters of wall. He then told me that the chain link is MUCH more expensive than block. The pipe frames he used for the chain link are not cheap either.

He then told me that the chain link is MUCH more expensive than block.

Is that just the cost of the materials that is more expensive? Labor for chain link should be much cheaper.

My friend bought all the material himself and was paying the workers 200 baht a day. The material was the main cost and the labor was a minor part of the total. The workers furnished their own cutters and a welder.

Ausfence has quoted us:

B7,800 for 100m x 90cm high

B10,500 for 100m x 120cm

B14,300 for 100m x 150cm

These prices are a bit more than half the cost of using cyclone fencing. Considering the cost of the material, I think it's important to make sure the installation is done well, with tense wire and level posts.

I would probably go for 120 cm and run a couple of strands of barb wire along the top.

Instead of barbed wire on top put a electric fence wire on top. The Thai govt is using electric to keep elephant etc confined to national parks, so all of us who thought E fenceing was not allowed in Thailand, times are changing. A woven wire fence will not keep smart and horney dogs in or out. They will learn to climb it like a ladder. I used to keep pointers and they would climb a 6 foot woven wire or dig under it. A electric wire on top and bottom solved the problem. Barbed wire just cut them up as they went over and then I had to doctor them back to health.

I also wanted to keep my dogs in, while keeping the other dogs out. This type of fence might not work perfectly, but I would only be letting my dogs run loose while I was outside. I was thinking about cementing the bottom of the fence in or something like that.

Electric fences might work, but I don't think the neighbors would like them. I've also read they are legal, but this hasn't stopped ppl calling the police after they've been zapped.

Is that price for just the fence itself?

Yes, that's just for a roll of the steel, the price I was quoted for cyclone fencing was 150 per sq meter.

Now I'm looking for someone who can do a nice job of fencing, using level posts and wire tensioners.
