What Is Suitable Attire When On Formal Retreat In Thailand & Where Can These Be Bought?

Hi BM's.

I've been studying the information and links provided by BM's on choosing a suitable meditation retreat in Thailand.

Another consideration is the requirement to wear suitable clothing whilst on retreat.

Not much seems to be specified but two centres have indicated the following:

1. Loose fitting white gown. White underwear.

2. Fishermans pants, white tee shirt, slippers for indoors and women must wear a bra.

I understand this subject can be controversial, with suggestions of over dressed prima donna's through to unsuitable outfits.

What is the best outfit to wear and where can this be purchased from?

Wasn't aware that a Budhist retreat was a fashionable or dressy affair. Go with the white and try to find the black patent Adda flipflops.

You can buy these in places like Big C or Tesco Lotus, usually in the pyjama area though they might be a bit thin. In the markets a lot of monk shops or clothes shops should have them.

Loose fitting long trousers of any kind should be ok anyway and if the Wat you are going to is fussy they'll probably have a supply of white fishermans trousers to lend you.
