My Friends they want to move to Thailand.

He is over 50 and he now he need 800000 Baht in Bank.

But hise Wife is not 50 and not Retired wat can he do about the Visa for his Wife?

He can apply for the visa with proof of marriage and she would be granted the same visa as a spouse. Either 800000 in the bank or proof of pension in the amount of 65000 per month.

A few months ago and this would not have been possible as they scraped the rule , then did a U Turn.

As said it could change in the future but presently if one person obtains a one year extension of stay for retirement the legal spouse can use that extension proof to obtain an O visa and one year extension of stay as dependent. If they both want retirement extensions of stay they would both have to meet the requirements.

Tangmoo, only the husband needs 800k in a Thai bank account. They just have to make sure to state the correct reason for application on the form TM.7:

Husband’s application: retirement

Wife’s application: dependent of husband on retirement extension.
