Cuban
So what pray tell would you call the people that live in this small Austrian Town ? Due to the anti-bad word protection - you will need to remove the red underscore in the following URL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuc_king,_Austria I see that the town/village sign gets stolen frequently. (Edit to correct broken URL link.) Edited April 26, 2008 by Cuban
geriatrickid
And I thought Bangers was used because of the prevalence of sausage in play I knew a fellow some years back that tracked STIs and he referred to Bangkok as Bangers because it was synonymous with the greatest incidence of reported cases. When he'd put up his powerpoint presentation, he'd make a joke starting with, "Our spike this month comes courtesy of Bangers Central" and of course we'd all start giggling like errant schoolboys. Cuban
I think in the efforts of international good will and shared experiances the forementioned Austian Village should be twinned with our very own Pattaya, Thailand. Consider the signs that could be put up at the city limits.
huggybear
Just curious if there is some specific meaning and/or reasoning many of "youse guys" use these two, what seems to me, fairly ridiculous substitutes for the names of two of our "fairest" (subject to debate) cities. Pretty much English slang, old chap: "I say, will you be heading orf to Bangers this weekend for the rugger match, old boy?" -"Doubtful sir, as I intend to stay in Patters, and a state of inebriation, with a brace of lissome young sluts." Hope this helps. This is great, completely cleared it up for me
track61
Me as well. This turned out to be an informative little thread, despite to wanderings into fuc_king, Austria that is. Thanks to all for the lesson.

qwertz
The old expats call Bangkok KT. If I email England from Germany I always start with "Message from the sausage side"
