Going to be landing at 8am on a Monday and haven't used public transport in Phuket for many years. The last time I got a minivan which cost 160B/per person. i gues that's all changed. I also heard that the meter taxis don't turn the mteres on.

Advice please, or a free lift!

The only free lift is in central.

Metered taxis are on the far right when you come out of the terminal, and they do use their meters, also you have a 100thb charge on top of that.

Probably going to be your quickest route. They still have the van shares, but that's a bit of a schlep as they drop other peolple off.

The main problem with the metered taxis is the amount of them, sometimes you have to wait for one to come back but I think at that time of the morning you should have no problem.

Best of luck !

There is an Airport to Phuket Town bus that goes about every hour - I believe it's about 75/80 Bt one way (or used to be)

Its grey & orange - ask at the information counter in the airport for departure point & times.

PING! There goes another rib!

Ask a silly question!

Ted, geeez, the guy is asking advice on getting from the Airport to the Rassada Pier. I am unclear on how this is silly. I still have high hopes about this forum being a positive, helpful place.

To the poster that talked about the 80thb bus, that drops at the bus station Phuket town, yes? The OP is still going to have to pay transport from the bus station to the pier. 200thb tuk tuk

OP-spend the 4-500thb on the metered taxi and get direct to your destination.

Cheers, HB

Well well. So it seems that this is a forum for seriousness and humour is out of the question.

I only referred to the OP’s last comment about a free lift as I thought the OP was making a joke with the HA HA OR WHAT on the title of this thread and I added to that, but now it seems that it was not a joke and the OP was serous about a free lift from Phuket airport.

So from now on I will have to be serious about what I say as it seems that my none serious comments offend members of this forum.

Serious Ted.

I appreciated the joke in the same way I made the tongue-in-cheek comment about a free lift. No hard feelings either way.

Nobody has given any mention as to the prices of those wonderful minvan things. I very much doubt I'll catch the morning ferry to Phi Phi (land at 8.15am) so the time of the journey isn't critcal.

Ted,

I think we all realized you were joking, nobody offended, it was the "ask a silly question" that I thought was a little overboard as I think the question is valid.

The funnier one lies with "ferry to Phi-Phi" (what, you can't walk and take care of that?).

Cheers, HB

Thank you 2long for realizing that it was just a joke. About the minibus fares to your designation it was some years ago when I last used them and cannot give you a precise fare, but I would recommend if you have booked a hotel that they could arrange a lift cheaper then the standard taxi fare.

If I was still in Phuket for the low season I would offer you one for free myself. So it seems you are right about free lifts as I was too! :o

Have a nice stay on Phi Phi. :D

Ted.

To answer my own question (as I've just got back) the public bus looked like a great idea until I missed it due to an Air Asia delay. The mini-buses are nice and new and only cost 100B to Phuket town, 150B to Patong. Ok, so you have to wait until they have enough passngers, but it wasn't long. If there are two or fewer of you, it's cheaper (than a taxi) and almost as quick.

But then what did you have to pay to get from Phuket Town to Rassada Pier (see topic headline)?
