Children Of Mixed Race Marriages

The recent post on mixed race relationships reminded of an incident that occurred when I was last in Laos. A local Laos fellow I met there and got to know asked me if I would impregnate his wife. Without going into that issue, he explained to me that children of asian/caucasion parents were better looking, smarter and healthier than either of their parents.

Being extremely sceptical, I spoke to an Australian friend of mine who was studying medicine in Australia a little later about this. She said that statistical evidence in Australia at least confirms that children from these mixed parentages generally do better scholastically than other students and have a slightly higher than average life expectancy. And I can vouch from personal experience that many Eurasian ladies are extremely attractive, perhaps more than the average ratio of attractive peoiple in the community (which I believe is 25% of any given community are commonly regarded by their peers as attractive). I believe that people of Thai/Falang heritage are favoured by TV and print advertisers over here.

Perhaps the statistics in Australia may be skewed by other culutural factors at work here, but does anybody else have information on this??

I expect some of that's true and some of it's bunk, but suspect it's all irrelevant to the particular case. My guess is his wife was already pregnant and he was angling for child support.

I don't know anything about intelligence or life expectancy, but most Thais I know take it as a matter of fact that mixed Thai-Caucasian people are better looking and will have an easier time in life. I know of some Thai women who want a White man to father their children so they could be successful actors.

Thailand is not a race it's a country on the otherhand Thais are certainly not "pure" in any sense if you want to entertain such a thing as being possible anywhere in the world. Thais consist of indigenous minority tribes, indian, chinese, caucasian, and just about everything else in the bloodline. Pull out a map and look at the geographical position sometime. It's a perfect crossroads to several cultures and ethnicities.

Which IQ metric are you referring to? IQs have a lot to do with early childhood development and nutrition rather than innate inability. It's a proven fact that as nutrition and healthcare improves so does the productivity and "IQ" of the people.

There is absolutely no proof one way or the other since most of humanity has mixed with some other people at one point or another.

Economically successful countries with a population size large enough to draw upon a pool of athletes tend to win the most medals. It has nothing to do with a population's innate ability. The only exceptions to this are places like Kenya where the athletes are extremely skilled in certain track and field sports due to environmental living conditions.

I would be a little nervous about a person wanting you to ‘mix’ with his wife. How do you know he won’t sell her if he isn’t the real father; with the child being beautiful sounds like he can get a better price?

Why don't you see athletic black men in swimming sports? It has nothing to do with race. It's just that more inner city african-american kids grow up playing basketball as a sport. Just like how Cuba and Puerto Rico churn out lots of good baseball players or Brazil with soccer.

In the U.S. it is becoming common now for the top students in good colleges to be Asian or Asian American. One of these groups is the Koreans. I don't believe that it has anything to do with race or nationality, but it has much more to with the cultural differences in the way Asian American families work together and have a positive family and home situation. Asian American families are much more likely to discipline their children, and push their children to do well in school.

I also know of Vietnamese refugees, who fled from the communists in Vietnam after 1975. Many of their children or even grand-children now are making a very sucessful life in the U.S. Most of them probably trace their sucess back to their father's and mother's determination to better their lives after they ran away from their home country.

Uhh. Italy and I believe Croatia have very good basketball teams. A lot of their players are in the NBA. Most of them picked up basketball as young kids because it started becoming popular there back in the '80s. Before then noone in Europe played it seriously.

In basketball the blacks are better. trust me on this im a huge basketball fan, especially the NBA. The american team would kick everyones ass if they played as a team. They lose because they are all show ponies. There is nobody in Europe who is even close to the talent of a Lebron James or as strong as Shaq or as great as Michael Jordan
