Abdominal Aortic Aneuryms - St. Louis Hospital

Featured Replies

Thanks for this great service. During a routine physical last week, I was diagnosed with an Abdominal Aotic Aneuryms in excess of 6 cm. The physical was done at St. Louis Hospital. Surgery is being recomended. Any one else had this experience here in Thailand that can recommend a good Doctor/Hospital. I am 59 years Old and otherwise in good health, for the most part. No Insurance, so I pay as I go. Any suggestion/recomendation would be greatly appreciated

I would like to make a very important suggestion. (BTW I am an MD.)

See if you can find someone (a vascular surgeon for example) who can evaluate you as a candidate for "Endovascular Repair".

Which means, instead of going through the abdominal wall with a huge incision, a collapsable/expandable "stent" is passed via the femoral artery under fluoroscopic guidance (using real-time x-rays), and placed in the appropriate position in the aorta and opened.

This is a relatively new type of procedure, good luck!
