I'm in a bit of a pickle, about two weeks ago I applied for UK visas for my G/F and her sister so we could all travel to the UK with my daughter for two weeks, the visas were issued without even the need for an interview in Bangkok.

On the visa application I stated that we would be travelling to the UK on the 17th June and returning to Thailand on the 3rd July.

When the visas arrived I looked at them and didn't really pay attention to the valid from date, I just assumed that they were valid from the date of issue because somebody had told me that in the past.

Anyway I was browsing online this week and found some really cheap airfares so booked the tickets for us all to travel out next Thursday the 29th May. Only now for some reason I decided to look at the UK visa of my girlfriend and seen the valid from date 15/06/08 until 15/12/08.

My question is is there any possible chance I can change the valid from date on the UK visa as I am not sure if the tickets are changeable as they are cheap ones and with cheap tickets you usually can't change anything.

Please let me know if anybody has had similar experiences.

Your two options are to either approach the embassy, explain what's happened, and ask that in the circumstances they change the date of validity, or approach the airline and ask if they can change the flight date.

I am going to contact the embassy in the morning but my G/F is now looking none too happy with me because she now thinks she's not getting her holiday and I just wondered if anybody had ever come across this before,
