Flight Help Anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi just wondering if a few of you have any good advice about flights.

Im looking to fly to Bangkok on Boxing day preferably from London as it is cheaper but would also look at Manchester.

I am looking to get a non immigrants visa so can stay for upto 15 months so did think about a one way flight but have heard different opinions of getting access to the country if i only have a one way ticket. So a return looks the better option and isnt too much more in that case.

the problem i have is you can not book a return flight back in 15 months on all the websites i visit. Has anyone ever just booked a flight to return a month later and when in thai changed it to say 1 year down the line? Or are there restrictions of say 3 or 6 months delay on that return flight?

if anyone knows of or has done this i would be grateful to hear including good airlines to choose. thanks

As far as i'm aware the return leg of any ticket must be utilised within 12mths of the outbound flight. I wanted to book my Manchester>BKK return ticket online but the furthest return date I could book online was 10 months from the date of actual booking eg well before 12 mths. If I wanted to amend the date I had to pay 75GBP but I wasn't happy with this so I phoned emirates up and explained that I was being forced into paying 75GBP because of the booking limitations of the website. They said fair enough I could book now and that I could later change the return date free of charge.

Royal Brunei let me change my flite last yea, twice, no charge, no prob.

If you have a 12 month non-immigrant visa you won't have any problems getting a one way flight. They will only pounce on you if you don't have a visa, although there have been some exceptions to this they have always been sorted out from what I gather.

I think you will also find that the class of ticket you purchase will impact the extension of return date etc. Getting one way as mentioned above seems the best option. Then you buy a return ticket from within Thailand so get cheaper fares in he future should you wish to fly back.
