Recently Married

Featured Replies

I recently got married to my Thai wife who is also pregnant. After the baby is born we intend to visit my family in the UK. I have been reading that even getting a tourist visa can be difficult.

My wife has taken my family name which maybe helps. Also, my wifes daughter would come with us. Would there be any problem with her obtaining a visa. No problems with the baby as will register with embassey and get passport.

Whether your wife gets the visa will be dependent upon your circumstances. The visa officer will want to establish that your wife can be maintained and accommodated during her stay and that she intends to leave the UK at the end of her stay. To this end, she will have to show that she has something to return to in Thailand. If you work in Thailand, evidence of your employment and work permit will help.

Cheers scouse. She owns property in thailand, we have rental agreement for house in Phuket in both our names and i am registered at the embassey in Bangkok as living in Thailand, would this be adaquate evidence.

If she is successful in visa application, will this automatically mean her daughter will get one. Also, the fact that we have a baby with us travelling on a UK passport, would this make any difference. Thanks for the help.

That your wife gets a visa does not automatically mean that her daughter will too, but as their applications will be inextricably linked it is likely. Although the joint tenancy agreement, that you are married and that you will have a child is good evidence of a subsisting and ongoing relationship, if possible I would submit more evidence of cohabitation. If that is all you've got, that's what you'll have to run with. Evidently, the presence of your baby will be a factor in the consideration of your wife's application, but the circumstances are looked at in the round and no one factor can be said to guarantee a visa being issued.

Scouse.
