Are there any shops in Bangkok that sell Go Kart parts? I am looking to build a small "fun" kart for the kids. I need tires, rims, clutch, etc.. I am not looking for any racing parts.

The track is behind Seacon square. There is also a parts dealer in a used car dealership on the side of seacon, maybe 200 meters before the side entrance of Seacon square; it is very easy to miss the shop though.

EDIT:

For something that will just be fun I suggest you get a set of cheap Apex/Siames slicks and a 50cc Robin engine used in gasoline weedwhacker engines. It has a centrifugal clutch and is a pull-starter.

My dad is friends with the guy who built the TGTC chassis a few years back. Excellent metalworker. He also made around 30-or-so midget karts that ran on the Robin engine and raced competitively in a junior class before Toyota/UBC partnered up and started a league using Trulli frames and IAME? engines. He also is the producer of the kart stands that are almost universally used in Thailand as well as the stands for the Yamaha keyboards and guitars.

Surely he has a few of the chassis left in his factory but I would expect that the owner of the track behind Seacon has a couple of them or knows someone who would have one for sale.

PM Me if you want the guy's number.

What motor are you thinking of?

I understand the fun of building but wouldn't you save a lot of hassle by simply buying an old beater ex race kart and putting golfcart wheels on it? You may even find some "offroad" ballon-like tyres that will give enough ground clearance using std. race rims. Remeber kart rims are split so you'll need inner tubes or you'll spend all your time pumping up the tyres. BTW some wheel barrow tires are big and have tubes!!

Yes Seacon square is a good start they also have rental karts there so you could take some photos if you insist on building your own. Do some surfing for bungy jumping Chaigmai and drop Ian an email. He has off-road buggies so probably knows where to get stuff. There is also Pattaya Kart Speedway. they also have off-road buggies.
