TAT Krabi expects 2 million tourists this year

KRABI: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Krabi office Director Pornprapa Lorsuwan believes that the Mega fam trip of Russian travel agents and media to Krabi would help them understand the destination better and boost local tourism. She points out that Russian and East European markets are new for Thailand, but with positive outlooks.

As for local tourism, the TAT Krabi Director said by the end of beginning of November, Krabi Airlines plans to introduce a twice a week direct charter flight between Norways’ Oslo and Krabi and also the same number between Krabi and Germany’s Munich. She expects an increase to at least 2 million tourists to Krabi this year. Last year there were just over 1 million tourists there. Krabi currently has about 14,000 rooms and hundreds more are being constructed with a plan to complete them by the year end.
