Report Thai Monk's Secret Life: Scandal of Love and Embezzlement
I've long suspected that a great number of Thai men who become Buddhist monks do so for a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do with Buddhism, faith, religion. If a guy's down & out & hungry & homeless & penniless then going into the nearest temple solves all his problems. For others it's a respect/power kick. One day he's a bottom-feeding low-life scumbag, next day in his orange robe he's up there on a pedestal and has people grovelling at his feet. And for many others it's an opportunity to get their fingers into the tills. -
