Different Steps To A Non B -public & Private Schools?

Featured Replies

I had a non B and WP last year when working in a province. I moved to a private school in BKK this term and had to go on Tourist Visas while waiting for the non B.

The process to getting a new non B was:

1) Go to MoE to get approval for the Non-B and WP

2) Go to MoI to get the Non-B

3) Go to MoL to apply for the WP

4) Pick up the WP from MoL 3-4 days later (longer at peak times)

However, we got shot down at stage 1 as they tried and couldn't verify the Degree right there on the internet.

I know it's more difficult for private schools, but don't know what extra stages they have to do. If working for a PUBLIC School, are the 4 steps the same, or do they still have to go to the MoE to get approval??

Does anybody know? Thanks.

PS, I also have the receipt for the TL etc.

You can only get a new non-immigrant B visa from a Thai consulate or embassy outside of the country.

You can extend an exisiting non-immigrant B at your local immigation office.

You can get a new non B (from Tourist visa & Visa Exemption) from immigration in BKK since the end of last year. Once you have all the docs in order. I was ok last year in a public school outside of BKK. This year in a BKK private I wasn't as I wasn't approved by the MoE for a non-B and WP - they didn't give the letter of approval needed.

I'm asking if this is required by DoI when applying for a non-B to work in public schools as well as private schools. Thanks.

That isn't true. You can get a tourist visa converted to a non-b right at suan phlu immigration office. All of our new teachers this year have done exactly that.

That isn’t true, either. If you qualify for any type of annual extension of stay you can apply at an immigration office for a change of visa to non-immigrant visa. The immigration office will stamp a generic non-immigrant visa into your passport, non a non-B visa.
