I found the visit to immigration in Bkk very easy and quick (one hour) when extending my non imm O visa. But now I am wanting to put my 800k in an account which offers a decent rate of interest, at present it's something like half a percent. Will moving the money to another account with the same bank or even to another bank cause problems next year when I re new? The first year you have to show the money was transfered from abroad, bit if it's moved then I wont be able to show this, will that matter when re newing the extension?

It should be quite ok.

IF asked, show the old bankbook, so keep it, don't throw it away.

As long as the money is in the new account for the obligatory 3-month period, with a statement from the bank that it was/is indeed in this account for the 3-month period, there should not be a problem.

Most people do not report any problem doing this. At least you should get about 3% interest.

With an inflation rate that will reach double digit numbers this year, 3% is not very much.

Other ways to prove income could be more interesting, if possible of course.
