I understand it is monsoon season :D but i dont mind rain every other day for like 2 hours but i hear Phuket is currently raining everyday? Is this in the evening or what?

Phuket is my fave choice as it looks so beautiful and i wanna visit Koh Phi Phi :D

please somebody give me some real advice instead of just saying yes it rains everyday.

Please be descriptive and i would love to talk to someone who is actually there now! :D

Without wishing of offend too much, did you think about that sentance before writting it? There is weather everywhere and presented in every type, I will assume that you seek warm, sunny and dry ?

Real advise: Ask nicely or get ignored. The web site forecasts will often indicate thunderstorms, in real life there is often thunderclouds with intercloud 'sheet' lightning flashes but little or no rain or ground strikes. This can occur during many evenings, the cloud cover means that the evening is somewhat warmer than compared to cloud free nights.

Pattaya: warm and sunny - clear blue skies - gentle seas, although a little too grey-green for my liking.

Hello, I am in Patong Phuket right now and have been for the past 6 weeks. The weather had been quite good up until about 4-5 days ago and sorry to say, but yes it does rain at least once every day and each day the rains lasts a little longer than before ... so we are clearly 'in' the monsoon season. Prior to this it was lovely with just the odd day of rain.

I am told to expect a lot more rain too

Now is the best time to visit Phi Phi Island but only because you will find the beaches relatively empty, normally its not like you see on the post card and difficult to find a spot to sit on the beach, let alone take in the lovely view with all the boats moored up in the bay. However, the sea is quite rough now so expect a bumpy ride.

Not sure if you are male or female, but if you are female and travelling alone as I am, I highly recommend staying at the Same Same Guest House (it specialises in couples and female travellers). Its very central too, great location, close enough to all the action .... Bangla Rd, Jungceylon (shopping) and just a short walk to the beach too. I think its European owned and is run by friendly Thai staff, is cheap as chips but clean and has sizable comfortable double rooms with en suite shower, air-con, cable tv, Wi-Fi etc. When you first get there it seems a little weird because the guest house has a beauty salon below at street level, but don't be put off.

For anyone who isn't familiar with Patong it is very much a "mans town" with endless girly bars down one street called Bangla Road but don't be put off... as a female travelling alone, I felt very safe and would recommend this guest house to any travelling females, especially when travelling for the first time to Phuket.

I do not have an email address but their website (which is very basic) is www.samesamephuket.com and their phone is +66 8153 83331

Other quick tips are to only pay 100 baht for any Tuk Tuk in and around Patong, best breakfast at £1.50 is at Dangs Cafe close to the Jungceylon end of Bangla Rd (they also do great food).... OH and never TIP more than 10-20 baht in restaurants !

If I can be of any help on other matters please send me a message….

If you don't think you can handle 2 hours of rain, I suggest you change your travel plans to december / january or go somewhere else, I hear the Middle East is quite toasty this time of year, or better yet, quite whining and take it in stride.

Hey read and think before putting finger to key it was bkkjames who spoke about "W" and a quick retort to bkkjames would be if you are going to tell someone to do sometrhing at least spell it correctly.

Funny how even such a simple topic like the weather can turn into an argument on thaivisa.

Anyway, soulfulgal I think you realize that some internet forum cannot predict the weather for you weeks in advance. In fact, nobody can do that. It's certainly not an exact science and this is not a weather service. Likely, there will be some rain as it's rainy season. There could be some sunny days as well. It's rainy season so it rains a lot, especially on islands. It could be sunny your whole trip but not likely. It could rain every second of your trip but not likely. Probably somewhere in between. Alternatively, you could go to Indonesia where it's not rainy season right now but dry season. Bet you'll find little rain in Bali this time of year. Why not go there? I've heard it's great.
