Hi,

My mother recently passed away in Thailand and the embassy returned her to England where she was cremated.

Her ashes were put into a plastic urn and half were buried in England, the other half are to be left in South Africa.

I intend to bring them over next week to Thailand and then onto SA in October.

I spoke with a girl at Thai Airways who said I can bring them over in my baggage although she didn't check with anyone.

Is it ok to do this?

Can anyone help?

Yours,

Keelan

A few years ago, I brought my father's ashes from the States. In my baggage, which raised some questions from agriculutural inspectors in Hawaii and customs in Bangkok, but no problems. Apparently, as long as the container is sealed, there are no regulations against carrying ashes with you.

Hi,

I am not sure but I don't think the ashes are properly sealed. They have a screw on top. Half of them have been already emptied by my family so I don't have them with me to check but I am fairly sure it is a plastic urn with a screw top. I hope it will be ok.

I dont mean to be flippant, but as long as the container with the ashes is sealed, you should have no problem, I have mrs nignoy number 2,s ashes in an eggtimer(hourglass), at least she works occasionally now,and she always gets a smile from customs when we travel overseas to visit the off spring, the grandkids and great grandkids love giving the witch a shake up :o Nignoy
