Can Non-immigrant B Be Extended For Retirement?

Featured Replies

I recently received an e-mail inquiry via my web site asking if someone holding a Non-Immigrant B visa can receive an extension for retirement within Thailand.

I'm pretty sure I've read here that it can be done, but I'm hopeless with the search feature on this forum, so can anybody give a quick, definitive answer, please?

Can change to extension based on retirement. No problem.

Okay, then. Since I know the other experts and frequent posters have also been online in the last 24 hours and haven't posted in this thread to contradict or clarify, I'll interpret that to mean they are in agreement with Mario2008's concise (thanks!) answer.

Ok. Yes he can but whether he can continue to work on it is another question . One I am not sure on.

I extended my Non-B to a retirement extension in 2006. Now 2008 I will extend again on that same visa. I am retired and do not intend to work here or anywhere so the question if you can work on a retirement extension on a Non-B is not important to me.

My stamp clearly says "RETIREMENT" near the extension of stay. So I would venture a guess that I cannot get a work permit if I wanted one.

Work permits are again being issued for those on retirement extensions of stay from recent reports.
