Tourism in Krabi is reported to be inactive at this time of the year being low season, despite efforts to attract domestic travelers and seminar groups to fill up the rooms. A Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) official said a few airlines have cut down their flights while some suspended them. She detailed that Thai Airways and Air Asia offer 2 flights daily instead of the normal 3. Nok Air suspended its Bangkok–Krabi flights since June 24 and will resume on July 31st, while Bangkok Airways suspends the Bangkok-Krabi route from today but maintains its Bangkok–Samui route. The TAT is however, promoting seminars or Thai travelers to the province. On marine transport, tourist ferries between Krabi–Lanta and Ao Nang – Lanta Island are also stopping during the low season, but the normal car ferries are still in operation.

Thailand remains the top beach destination for Swedish travelers this year.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand the country remains the top-choice long-haul destination for Swedish travelers accounting for 40 per cent of all travel packages purchased from Apollo, the largest travel operator in Sweden. From January through to April 2008, approximately 190,000 Swedish travelers departed from Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport for Thai destinations.

With beach destinations in the provinces of Krabi and Phuket offering an opportunity for visitors to be involved in a variety of environmental conservation activities organized by the local community, they are the top favorites with the majority of Swedish travelers visiting Thailand. In 2007, Thailand welcomed 378,387 Swedish visitors. This represented an increase of 23.62 per cent over the previous year. Phuket received 228,746 up 6.39%, while Krabi received 130,870, up an amazing 139%.

Koh Lanta for sure is slow. You could fire a cannon in Saladan and I don't think anyone would notice.

Ao-Nang and Railei? I was pretty surprised when I was there a week and a half ago. More people than I'd seen at that time of year than I'd seen in the last two years at the same time. A hotel I normally stay at that would give me a great rate during this time, was FULLY BOOKED. A small boutique hotel I'm doing business with was at 50% and they are in the boondocks at Tub Kaek. Railei had loads of people on the beach at Friday sunset cocktail hour.

So I don't know..........I think statistics can be misleading depending on sources.

I don't know about Lanta and Railey and what hotels in Ao Nang and Tub Kaek concerns - but for the restaurants and other retailers outside the hotels, this is the lowest low season ever since years.
