Letter Of Income From U.s. Embassy

Featured Replies

I received a notice or email the other day. "The Consular Section of the American Embassy in Bangkok is pleased to inform you of a consular outreach visit to Pattaya in two weeks. Please come if you can!

Consular staff will be available to provide consular services at the following date and location:

Friday, June 18, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya. Please look for signs in the hotel lobby pointing to the location of the outreach."

Will the notorized letter be valid when I renew my retirement visa next February 2009. I don't want to run to Bangkok in February and have it done there.

Consular staff will be available to provide consular services at the following date and location:

Friday, June 18, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya.

Perhaps that should read: "Friday, July 18"?

I didn't catch that one.

This is usually a form letter/statement of your income. I think it has to be dated within 30 days or your visa application. So, it will be out of date and not acceptable, I believe.

I am pretty sure that Immigration will accept the proof of income letter that is dated within the year since the last renewal/extension. Immigration takes the original from you and keeps it each time you renew. So now you must get a new letter every year. So as long as you have an income letter with a date within the year since the last renewal you should be good to go.

Maybe Lopburi or one of the other experts can expound on this.

As they accepted old letter up until this year have no factual basis. I would consider 30 days as safe and perhaps (hope) up to six months. But I would doubt they will allow one year (you could avail yourself of a second letter at reduced price and use next year). Anyone has a chance do ask and see what we get for replies.

I used the same physical certification document for 6 years and last year even though they accepted the document asked that I get a new one from the embassy for next year. From my experience as long as you keep the original document from the Embassy you can use it again next year. This experience is from applications at the Nong Khai Immigration office so is not evidence of what other offices may require but for sure I have not made more than one trip to Embassy for this document in the last 8 years.

My retirement extension date falls in early September. Last year Pattaya immigration took my pension letter and kept it saying I will need a new one in 2008. I am American so when the embassy folks came to Pattaya in March I got another letter dater March 2008.

I now live in Banchang, Rayong and use the Mabtaphut immigration office. I went there yesterday for my 90 day address report. I took my pension letter with me and asked the officers if this letter dated in March 2008 will be OK for my renewal next month later in August and the supervisor saw the date and said "no problem" is OK.

That was yesterday's response.

I will go a week or two early for my renewal (late August) and hope it is still accepted with date of March 2008. If something changes I have time to go get another,,,,,,.

We shall see------------->>>>>>
