Does anybody know of any decent sports injury massage therapists in Bangkok to treat a shoulder injury I have.

Not looking for the general Thai massage places, but specifically injury specialist professionals.

Since when was massage the correct treatment for a sports injury?

If you are seeking proper medical re-hab treatment you would be well advised to contact one of the International Hospitals in Bangers, most have on-site post-op rehab facilities which can assist -following a physician's appraisal.

I would be extremely wary of inappropriate massage in Thailand if you have any form of injury.

What is your injury, and how was it caused?

I have a rotator cuff injury I have been carrying for 18 months now. Got it doing a heavy lifting job in the UK must be a repetitive injury.

Sports injury massage is a definite good way to heal it as I saw one in UK before I came here. The massage opens the scar tissue and I have to do stretches every day. Just need to find a good massage therapist who understands treating injuries of this nature. Also your surrounding muscles can tighten up to compensate for your injury and massage loosens up them up.

So thats the reason that i think sports massage therapy is the correct treatment.

A friend of mine had the same problem, he ended up going to Sydney to get everything re-attached surgically (result of a sailing accident- both shoulders too!). I don't think he ever had any form of massage however.

I accept that massage can relieve the tension from surrounding muscle, but be very careful not to allow inappropriate manipulation, you could end up worse off.

Try the International Hospitals as I suggested previously. I doubt you will find a therapist, such as the one you used in the UK, in Thailand.

A good muscle relaxant may be a better alternative. Scar tissue should have settled down by now. Have you been using cold/heat therapy? This can often cause further scar tissue damage -especially ice - if used for too lengthy sessions.

Sorry can't be more helpful. Hope it turns out ok for you. Good luck.

Cheers Rick.
