What Happens To Thailand If Oil Prices Hit $200 Bbl?

I have read that Thailand is self-sufficient in rice. All well and good in the latest Wall St, starving the poor, depopulation scam. Perhaps the poor can ride it out.

However, I have also read that farmers are not being compensated for the additional cost of production caused by higher fuel prices. What happens when they can't afford to fill the tractor? Can't get their goods to market? Can't afford the fertilizer? Will we see rice stockpiled at farms or a move to alternative crops? 2. Perhaps mass suicides as we saw with Indian farmers?

3. What happens to Thailand's diversity when small farmers are driven out of business and corporate Agro-biz moves in to buy their land at knock-down prices? 4. Isn't this just more of the same from the Monsantos of this world? 5.A Wal-Mart or Tesco Lotus in every town and every small business driven out, bankrupt and the keys handed over to the private banker pirates.

Anyone in the know in this area?

How about you start with actual facts and not hyperbole and gross inaccuracies?

1. All well and good in the latest Wall St, starving the poor, depopulation scam.

FALSE. there is no depopulation scheme. Thailand is facing manpower shortages. There is no financial benefit in creating further labour shortages. What does Wall street have to do with this? Do you have any idea how commodity exchanges work? The largest US commodity exchange is in Chicago and most of its agriculture trading relates to the USA and Canada. If you want to criticize grain commodity traders then go after the exchanges that have the most impact in respect to Thailand. Start with the exchanges taht deal with the largest rice exporters which are Thailand, Vietnam and India. Hint: They aren't in Chicago

2. Perhaps mass suicides as we saw with Indian farmers?

The plight of India's farmers is related to the land ownership system, the limited access to low interest loans and of course the caste system that keeps certain groups in penury. You can't blame foreigners for any of that. In case you didn't know, India's land ownership and banking structures are protected in favour of Indians. D-oh.

3. What happens to Thailand's diversity when small farmers are driven out of business and corporate Agro-biz moves in to buy their land at knock-down prices? Diversity? There is about 20million hectares of agricultural land in Thailand. 10 million hectares is used for rice. Corporate agrobiz? It's been there since the 1960's land reformation projects and the mad dash to use up land reserves for rubber plantations. Forum rules preclude me from naming the entity that is the largest landowner in Thailand. I suggest you read the Thai government stats on farming, land ownership and farmer demographics; http://web.nso.go.th/eng/en/agriculture/agr_census2003.htm

4. Monsanto? Where does Monsanto come into this? Thailand made a strategic business decision not to enter into the use of modified grain seeds. More importantly, Monsanto is not in the rice seed business. It's products are intended for large hectare usage. Monsanto does not market its seeds to small hectare plots typical of Thai corn and cotton producers.

5.A Wal-Mart or Tesco Lotus in every town and every small business driven out, bankrupt and the keys handed over to the private banker pirates.

Walmart? where to you get this garbage? Walmart is not in Thailand. They'd lose their shirts. Keys handed over to private bankers? In case you didn't know, Thailand is not welcoming to foreign bank operations when it comes to the agricultural sector. Private? Where do you get your ideas from? Communist training manuals from the 1930's? The large foreign banks are publicly owned. I suggest you look up some of the bank ownerships. You might not like what you see because your own government probably has an indirect stake as does your union pension fund (if unionized) or your credit union. Take a look at the investments of some of the largest pension funds, particularly those of groups one would identify as being on the left such as union pension funds. It's an eye opener.

I suggest you reconsider your outlook on land redistribution in Thailand. The last group that took on the ruling oligarchy were the northern based communists. They have been virtually wiped out by a lack of popular support, an injection of social development funding (courtesy of the USA), targeted military operations and wholescale desertions.

A good number of both city laborers and farmers living on "their" land are in debt from living beyond their means. IMO both have pretty good lives if they just live within their means. Self sufficient also applies to folks all across the spectrum. It's opting for tile when marble isn't necessary, it's not buying a V-12 or V-8 automobile when a V-6 or V-4 is enough for your needs, it's RIS instead of ISB for your kids, etc.

Can rice be converted to fuel?

If so, Thailand will be OK.

If not, it's bicycle time.

People are definitely taking shorter trips (crowding into nearby malls and shopping centers), which makes the expressways and intercity highways rather enjoyable driving. It's only going to get better.

well the self-sufficient farmer, if he listened to HM the kings ideas, will put in the palm-oil fuel in his tractor and let the ducks and fishes put their excrements into the rice field.

All that works perfect, just the rice output is a bit lower (but you get fish and duck for free). So these small self-sufficient farmers will be more competitive as higher the oil gets.

If they are self sufficient who are they competitive with?

So you wish grinding poverty on these farmers do you?

you should read a bit about it......

who has a better life: a labour, earning 6.000 Baht in Bangkok, renting a small room, buying his food, beeing basically a slave.

Or a farmer, living on his land, earning 2.000 Baht by selling food, getting food for free, having 2.000 on hand every month.

just one of our friends, female who just married, working on rubber farms but don't own one inch own land, bought a house for 200.000 financed with her work.

money is not much, but she has 0 expenses.

self-sufficient means the way out of poverty...you won't get millionaire but you get it better than a factory worker, with higher food prices and rubber or palm oil you can even get rich.

I am sorry - basic economics iust be a bit much for you

You are not even worth taking the piss out of

Good for you. If only you could throw those words at politicians, marketing managers and public relations experts. As to 'gross inaccuracies', well let's see now..

"It is [Henry] Kissinger's belief ... that by controlling food, one can control people, and by controlling energy, especially oil, one can control nations and their financial systems. By placing food and oil under international control along with the worlds monetary system, Kissinger is convinced a loosely knit world government operating under the framework of the United Nations can become a reality..."

Washington columnist Paul Scott, 1970s

I have no intention of taking on anyone, unless you mean chucking my dentures at them. Nor am I a communist, which is irrelevant, since under communism, fascism or any other 'ism' the elites still get to rule. Bit like creating religions. So many ways the human family can be disunited and herded. Even internet forums are part of the dastardly plot.

Bank ownership typically depends on the Class 'A' shares and their voting rights which are not available to the public. As far as Thailand is concerned the formation of a central bank is usually a giveaway that the International bankers have control. If Thailand was NOT controlled by the cartel it would be part of the 'Axis of Evil' and you can take that to the bank. :o

War is the best business there is for a banker. Stoke up a little war or two and the banks and their war profiteers get to bag 1000%+ profit abroad instead of the lousy 6% they get at home. The same private bankers even fund both sides. Seems like a pretty good business model to me. Especially as under the fractional reserve banking system (alternatively known as counterfeiting) they can charge interest on non-existent money. Heck. The last thing you want is 'victory'. Or did I miss something and all the wars this century have really been about freedom and democracy. Now there's a 'gross inaccuracy' if ever I heard one.

If you understand the modus operandi of the International banker pirates then you'll know that they pump up economies, then pull the rug and snap up land and assets as fast as their grubby little mitts can bag them. It happened with the U.S. in the great depression and it's happening right now with Bear Stearns being the first of the low hanging fruit.

I don't see rice prices down in the countries of which you speak. Doesn't matter where the bourse is, it's a global market now. Grain traders, like any traders, can bid up or down a market as they are directed. Just keep moving up the bid/ask. I don't believe any market is free of manipulation. Global giants like Cargill can pretty much do as they see fit. http://www.foodandwaterwatch.org/food/pubs/reports/cargill

No de-population agenda? You could have fooled me. Looking at the 50 countries the jackbooted ones have bombed since 1948, they seem to enjoy a little de-population as a side benefit of war. Kill as many people as possible just as long as you call them 'commies', 'insurgents' or 'terrorists'. Men, women, children. it doesn't matter. Get them all. Cambodia, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and so on. I read a stat somewhere which said during WWI only 10% of civilians were casualties. These days, it's 98%. You can call it war if you wish. Maybe even genocide. But since there's less people on the planet, I'm inclined towards 'de-population' myself.

Are they using starvation as a method of population control? hel_l's bells where do you conspiracy theorists get your ideas! It's an unintended consequence of the market, that's all, of which the billions in government subsidies (pork) play absolutely no part. The market will correct, it's just the normal part of the business cycle. That they could feed, clothe, house and educate all the world's poor, many times over, with the money they have spent on the militarization of the planet is yet another 'gross inaccuracy'. Why should they help the poor. To the elites we're only 'useless eaters'. Cattle.. You can see why here... http://www.jordanmaxwell.com/articles/pictures/index.html

No country, according to Mr Nobel Peace Prize, Kissinger, can be allowed to grow it's population to the point where it will threaten U.S. dominance. It's a debatable hypothesis, when you consider that, in our own societies, population reduction happens automatically as a consequence of poverty reduction. Parents are too busy being worked to death to have children. This is in direct contrast to the poor, who will spit them out as fast as they perish, in the hope that one or two will live to take care of them.

There are many ways being used to limit populations. Promoting homosexuality; forced sterilization, medical plagues, starvation, birth control and morning after pills, turning men and women against each other, abortions by the million, Iatrogenic medicine, maybe even a Biblical flood or earthquake. Hitler was definitely a Eugenics fan, inspired by Henry Ford apparently. Ford wasn't alone in his thinking. Shucks, they must have a great time deciding who's going to live or die. Happy days.

Starvation is a weapon of control. If not, please explain this... http://www.schillerinstitute.org/food_for_...sm_jb_1995.html Seems we've been down this road before.

About India. You are wrong... http://www.navdanya.org/news/08jun07.htm There are others if you care to look. 'D-oh'.

I referenced Wal-Mart not because they are synonymous with Thailand but because they are synonymous with corporate monopoly. To the elites competition is a 'sin' even from small players. Thank you for the link. I see you are right about diversity in Thailand. Already gone. When I came to Thailand I was delighted to see local markets selling food that still tastes like food and not irradiated cardboard. At least there is some hope, even if it's only coming from granny's allotment.

Awakened, I thought your opinions looked familiar and then you confirmed it with your citation of political cult leader Lyndon Larouche's political views via the Schiller website.

http://www.schillerinstitute.org/biography...t_larouche.html

Basically, you have lifted your opinions from the Larouche political manifesto. You should have at least given credit to your puppet master.

If you wish to parrot the views of Mr. Larouche the pusher of mass conspiracies and a convicted felon (sentenced to 15 years incarceration, but served only 6 with parole granted on charges of mail fraud and tax fraud), then be prepared to be treated as marginal and a disciple of the cult leader.

When the source of information is tainted and corrupt, then anything gained from it is tainted and corrupt. This is a rule of science and it is a rule of law. Ipso facto, your arguments are tainted and corrupt. You have cited misconstrued and manipulated statements from Mr. Kissinger that are taken out of context and are almost 40 years out of date. The allegations you make have been shown to be false. However, that's the standard M.O. for the Larouche followers isn't it? What's next, the impersonation of journalists? (Newsweek sued Larouche because of such a scheme.)

Now, I don't know about you, but when someone gets convicted of mail fraud in the USA, I usually consider such a person to be a con artist. People that hand out campaign leaflets entitled Children of Satan III - The Sexual Congress for Cultural Fascism usually cause concern for regular folks. Factor in the trail of violence and mysterious deaths associated with the proponents of your manifesto and any person with a sense of self esteem and common sense is going to walk away very fast.

Your arguments which appear to have been gathered from Mr. Larouche's propaganda mirror Mr. Larouche's own journey from religious zealot, to Marxist to Trotskyite to Socialist Workers Party organizer to National Labour Caucus Commitee founder (following his expulslion from the SWP and remarkable because of the absence of "labour" within the ranks). I think the allegations of violence, racism and sexism speak for themselves.

Now that we have established the origins of your opinions, why don't you come clean and admit that this has nothing to do with concern for Thailand, but rather serves as a vehicle to push the agenda of Mr. Larouche.

rice can, but more important Palm Oil. As you can plant it everywhere and just need to wait. In Chumphon they make training on how small farmer can convert it to bio-diesel on a low tech level. You hardly need more than some old plastic bottles, work and time......

Might be not good for the latest high tec pumpe-duese turbo diesel but fine for tractor or boat engines.

I think the project is 30 years old, at that time the king told that once oil will be finish and Thailand should be ready. HM the King tested it in his airplane as well.

Well many Thais do understand it. It is not very difficult to understand so most probably even you can understand it, if you take some time and read about it.

If anything I wrote is incorrect or accurate, I will be more than pleased to address the subject matter. .

If you want to quote positions that are basically the position statements of the Larouche group, then have the moral decency to say so and not go off on a tangent.

Fact: The website you claim as the authoritative source for "depopulation" in Thailand is the Lyndon Larouche website. You left out the part of the depopulation conspiracy theory involving a woman's right to an abortion, homosexuality and "promiscuity". Afraid of the reaction?

You are absolutely WRONG on depopulation. You have intimated that depopulation is the plan for Thailand. That is a false and you have no evidence to support such a claim. There is no government policy to depopulate. Nor is there a conspiracy by multinationals, small business, medium size business, 7-11 stores or any other reputable business group to depopulate Thailand. Don't spread falsehoods.

What bearing does your statement "Women and Infants being blown to pieces" have on the price of oil in Thailand? No international banks or multinationals are currently blowing woman and infants to bits in Thailand. Nor are there any plans in the works to do so. To the best of my knowledge, Tesco is not holding a blow women and infants to bits sales event anytime soon either.

In Austria (which I know well) the labour union of the state railway is blocking any reforms.

They were faster with steam than they are now. Having 10 times to much staff and retire 10 years earlier.

I other countries the car manufacturer "if we don't sell xxxxxx people would loose job" or the oil industry.

But somewhere at 200-400 USD/barrel things will change (with a hard transition as it is too late).

So do we just assume them that the government figures are right? naive to think so surely!

No, it's 2 sentences. There should have been a peroid after "motives". I'm not here to criticize gramar, but you brought it up. The spelling error was on my end.

If I follow your logic, it is naive to use government data. What data should we reference - the BK Post?

Please end your fixation. Once again. I have never heard of him.

How is it that you are so confident in YOUR assertions? Are you party to the inner workings of government? Perhaps your positions are basically the position statements of the Bush group... oozing with 'moral decency'?

You have intimated that depopulation is the plan for Thailand.

This is a global crisis and the bulk of the world's food supply, just like the oil supply, is in the hands of cartels who are not in any way related to Santa. If they want to create famine, they can do so. If they want to jack up the prices simply for profit, they can do so. If they want to use food as an instrument of foreign policy they can do so.

As for Thailand...

'NSSM 200 similarly concluded that the United States was threatened by population growth in the former colonial sector. It paid special attention to 13 "key countries" in which the United States had a "special political and strategic interest": India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. It claimed that population growth in those states was especially worrisome, since it would quickly increase their relative political, economic, and military strength.'

Do a search for 'Food Shortages Or Globalist Depopulation Agenda' and make up your own mind.

As I already 'intimated' my beliefs are not based on any particular ideology but on still having the capacity to experience compassion for my fellow man. I realize this marks me out as a dangerous subversive in the eyes of certain elements. Rest assured that I have no intention of running into the hills and organizing resistance groups since my knees are knackered, my courage long gone and I'm still ploughing through my DVD collection of Mr.Bean. :o
