Many thanks

800,000 Baht or equivalent in a bank. OR 65,000 a month income OR a combination of both.

Can only apply at the London Thai Embassy and will need a police clearance and a medical certificate.

The info on the Hull website is mostly wrong.

I thought the money requirement and medical was only for the visa extension in Thailand.

I can't speak for England but I am Belgian and in Belgium you only need a recent marriage certficate to get a 1 year non-immigrant O.

And ofcourse a passport with 18 months validity, 2 completed visa forms and 3 pictures.

The process takes 3 working days and can be done at the consulate in Antwerp or in the embassy in Brussels

You are talking about a Non Imm O Visa.

We are talking about a O-A Visa . Not the same thing.

And No you do not need a medical or police report if you apply for a years extension in Thailand.

We are talking about retirement. You seem to be talking about marriage?

We are talking about one year visa entry. You are talking about multi 90 day entry?

For you, yes a 40k per month family income would have to be proven for extension in Thailand - but there is no medical required.

Many thanks will apply to Thai Consul. Probably looking at the same amount around 12000 GBP same for a year as complete retirement. Am wondering though if still have to do visa runs.

Thanks for all replies

1. You can only apply at the London Embassy in the UK. Outside Consulates do not accept retirement OA visa applications.

2. The requirement is 800k (baht =) in local bank account or 65k per month pension the same as if you extend in Thailand. The difference is the money can be in a local UK bank.

3. If you obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa, as Consulates can sell you, yes you will have to do 90 day visa runs unless you go through the one year extension of stay process inside Thailand later.

4. If you obtain a non immigrant OA visa you will be stamped for one year stay on entry into Thailand and visa runs would not be required - later years you can extend using money/pension in Thailand.
