Seafood Vendor badly hurt in Jomtien Beach attack.

Earlier this week, Police Lieutenant Saeksun from Banglamung Police Station was called to Banglamung Hospital to investigate reports from medical staff that a man had been admitted in an unconscious state following a brutal attack on Jomtien Beach.

The victim, Khun Manoch aged 37 works as a Seafood Vendor on Jomtien Beach and according to a statement given by the victim’s sister; two drunken men approached his stall and proceeded to attack him with fists and knives. He was slashed many times and beaten unconscious and remains in a serious condition in Hospital.

Police are unsure as to the motive behind the attack and think it may have been a random attack by the two drunk men who are now being sought by Police as a matter of urgency.

Any time, any place, no-one is safe in the violent and deadly streets of Patters. It's the law of the jungle and cash is king.

Henny-penny the sky is falling...give us a break. I can almost guarantee you you this was not a random attack (no matter what the press reports say) and that it was dispute over one vendor stepping on or selling on a patch of sand that "belongs" to another. Either something like that or he was late in his payments to the beach sand mafia.

In any case, just a dispute between Thais and has no bearing or effect on foreign tourists or expatriate residents (unless you happened to like his cooking).

NotNew2You - you've hit the nail on the head -

Never would a street vendor minding his own business be attacked like this - with such violence and ferocity - in Thailand (assuming he wasn't insulting and/or offensive to his attackers) UNLESS there was some other - as you've implied - more sinister motivation.

And - of course - in matters concerning local mafia in Jomtien and Pattaya - the BIB will naturally - as a matter of course - conveniently look the other way and doing nothing about apprehending the attackers.

Sad. I hope the guy makes a complete recovery. I also hope they find the guys responsible and the motive.

Naaaagh! You are all wrong - turf wars - the Russians will be behind it somewhere ..........................
