Two Foreign Nationals Involved In Motorbike Accident

Two Foreign Nationals Involved in Motorbike Accident.

Just after midnight on Friday traffic police were called to the entrance of the colloquially-known Soi Sophon Cable, the narrow road off Third Road, where an accident had taken place between two motorbikes. Accidents involving motorbikes are as common as garbage thrown on the side of the road, however, in this case the two riders were both foreigners, a slightly more unusual situation.

According to witnesses a 35-year-old British national was turning from Third Road into Soi Sophon Cable but didn’t check oncoming traffic and his motorbike was struck by another motorbike ridden by a 29-year-old Iraqi national who was coming down Third Road from Central Pattaya Road.

Both riders were slightly injured in the collision and required outpatient treatment in hospital. Police say the British national agreed he had made a miscalculation and wasn’t trying to start Gulf War III, and agreed to pay all expenses for the injured Iraqi and for the repairs to his motorbike.

It seems like we will be paying for Iraq no matter where we go!

I related this tale to a couple of hard-working barworkers. Their view was that a bad ghost was haunting one or both of the motorbikes or possibly the riders and a "tham boon" ceremony was in order. This was surprising in light of the fact that it is likely that neither of the riders are Buddhist.
