I use thai2english.com website frequently... and most of the time (95% or better) I can make heads and tails of what its gives me.

This small phrase sent to me does not make much sense trying to utilize thai2english though, can anyone help please?

พา เที่ยว หน่อย

paa - bring; lead; guide; take

tîeow - go out; travel; tour

nòi - (particle added to soften a request or command) slightly; a little; a little while

I know this is probably trivial to those more versed in Thai, but any help would be appreciated just the same.

The first two words combined mean "take someone out". The polite particle nòi softens the request, in a way that we might do in English by using intonation or polite expressions.

Although it's out of context, my guess is that it is somebody asking if you'll take them out. It could, of course though, be someone asking if you'll take someone else out.

Edit: Someone suggested that perhaps I should add that, when I say "take someone out", this isn't in the Tony Soprano sense.

hahaha!! too funny... Would not of taken it like that considering the Thai culture Ive been exposed to.

So she is not asking me to take her out is she? It did not end with "pao" or "mai" so still not sure how to respond or take this comment =)

There's no question particle because it isn't a question, it's a request. It's like an imperative sentence in English like "Sit down." We only make it into a question to be polite not because we really want an answer e.g. "Could you sit down, please?"

Therefore, it's more like "Take me out, please".

Oh and I'm not David, he's the one who pointed out the "Italian-American businessman" link.

Did you ever hear There is a light and it never goes out by The Smiths. If so, this request may be along those lines.
