Thai Bf Prob: How To Deal With This Situation & Not Offend Anyone

Featured Replies

It's not always the oldest son's responsibility. A lot of times it's the most capable son or daughter, the one(s) who are most well off, and in many cases it's just a shared responsibility between all of the children who care enough to participate.

As for your BF problem, sounds like you just got unlucky and got a less than ripe apple.

Not sure if you want truthful opinions or just to be listened to.. I'm guessing the latter so won't force my opinion on you, and you wouldn't enjoy reading it anyway. :/ Best of luck tho.

Take some condolence in the fact he is a Thai male , not well known for any particular work ethic

This kind of attitude always cracks me up. My husband has worked his whole life since finishing college, when we moved to the UK the first proper job he got saw the burser of the school calling me up to say how great he was, what a hard worker & such a difference in work ethic to the 3 (British) men who they tried out prior to him and could they increase his hours & give him more responsibility as he had proven to be so dilligent & hard working. 3 years later & he has had 2 pay rises & works full time as part of a 3 man team for the same private school. Amazing how, as he is thai hey?......and from Issan, none the less too. :o

These kind of blanket statements about "thai people" , "thai men" or "thai women" that get thrown around here really just prove the superiority some people think they have . :D

there are always exceptions boo. sound to me you found one . count your blessings. oh have you encountered a thai student working themselves through uni????????. i havent.

Yep, plenty, but because they come from families who are not able to support them - big difference. What we were saying here is that Thai parents don't generally push their children to get jobs whilst studying unless it is financially not viable for them to continue without working. The boyfriend in question here obviously comes from a middle class family who is able to support him. Studying is seen as a job in itself.

I don't think it is fair at all to say that Boo has found one in a million - I can give you hundreds of examples of Thai people who work very hard to support their families. It is such a false generalisation to insinuate that "all thai people are lazy" and shows you don't really know them particularly well.
