Better To Go With Education Or Business Visa?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm looking for a way to stay in LOS for about a year. I'm 22 years old, United States citizen, and making my money from the internet so I don't have many visa options available. I don't think I can do a year on tourist visas, but the non-ED or non-B shold work.

If I have read everything correctly the non-ED process would have me traveling to thailand on a tourist visa and then taking a thai language course for 90 day renewels. Seems straightforward but inconvenient for the class requirement.

The other option is the non-B but it seems only good for those "in the know" because apparently there are are some good people for this and some rip off artists. I oculdn't figure out if I needed the non-B before leaving the US, or I could come here on a tourist visa and then get the non-B.

Any clarificaiton would help a lot, thanks

There is a lot of debate on the legality of working on the internet while on an ED visa. In my opinion if you just want to stay a year, and don't rock the boat you should not have to find out which side of the debate is right. One other thing, internet service in Thailand is very unreliable, if your business depends on high speed net access you might want to think twice.

That's a bit of an overstatement on the internet. Plenty working here on internet and doing ok. Yes, if you're doing trading or something and it's absolutely essential you have superfast connection that never fails, you won't get it in Thailand. Otherwise, it's sufficient. You should be fine an ED visa. Work permit will be very hard to attain for what you're doing so best just to keep your work to yourself.
